Sunday Salon

This Sunday finds me traveling from New York back home to Massachusetts, following the wedding of a family member. My husband's cousin CeeGee (his initials are C.G. and it's become his nickname) got married to his beautiful girlfriend (now wife) Ariel at a gorgeous country club on Long Island. It was a great party, with family, music and great food- and now we're home.

While we were away I didn't have a lot of time for reading but I managed to sneak in a quick graphic novel (more on that tomorrow), and I've been working my way through Kathleen Norris's The Cloister Walk, for my book club, and The Last Chicken in America, Ellen Litman's short story collection about the Russian-Jewish immigrant experience in present-day Pittsburgh. Litman's book is very, very good and I look forward to reviewing it soon and telling you all more about it. The Last Chicken is one of the books I want to sell at my library's upcoming book fair and it's a book I'm very excited about.

What are you excited about this week?

I'm moving back to Boston, so I'm very excited about that! Maybe I'll meet you someday at the French Library.

I'm excited that Thanksgiving will cut short my work week to three days, well, more likely two, because by Wednesday the campus will be deserted!

I'm reading Cold Mountain so I'm excited how the story will come to an end after an Odessey-like journey home.

The Last Chicken sounds WONDERFUL. I think you've maybe mentioned it before, and I thought so then, too!

I hope you get to sell it at the book sale!

I'm excited to start on two books that have been recommended by two different friends later this week. We'll be traveling for the holidays and lots of driving time = lots of reading time.

I enjoyed hearing Ellen read from *Last Chicken* at Newtonville Books (I wish I'd know that you were there!). I haven't picked up the book yet - didn't stay that day, it was one of those need-to-be-in-three-places-at-once days, kind of like today!

I'm looking forward to seeing extended family this week ...Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
