Friday Finds

Some fun finds this week:

After a little shopping spree at the ever-wonderful Harvard Bookstore, I came home with

The Marriage Bureau for Rich People, by Farahad Zama (which I'm currently reading), a light and fun comedy, and

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, the first in Stieg Larsson's three-part series.

The mail brought me

Baking Cakes in Kigali
, by Gaile Parkin, which looks like fun, and

The Year of the Flood, Margaret Atwood's latest, which quite frankly does not, but which I'm sure I will enjoy nonetheless, being a huge fan of hers.

You can read more Friday Finds at ShouldBeReading.

What looks like fun to you this week?

A nice variety. I love the cover of the Zama book, and I really want to read Baking Cakes but our library doesn't have it-yet. The Dragon Tattoo should be good, I never read a Swedish mystery I didn't like.
Thank for the reading recommendations. I have read Possession and loved it. I started The Name of the Rose and then watched the film when my family wanted to. I need to wait a few years until I've forgotten the details before I read a book I've seen a film of. I guess it's time but a friend has it right now. I've read two others by Ecco and love his writing. So as soon as I get my book back, I'll read it. My FF post is up.

You got some great looking books! I've had The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for a while - I've been seeing a lot lately and I'm really anxious to read it.

Love your comment about Atwood. She's always a great read, but fun? Not so much. I tend to tell customers that hers are books you have to do some work for, but it's totally worth it.

I'm curious about Stieg Larsson. This series hasn't intrigued me before, but I've been hearing his name a bit lately... I guess because The Girl Who Played with Fire was just published.

I also received the new Margaret Atwood this week, with a giant recommendation from the GM of our store.

Otherwise, it was a pretty slow week for finds. Thinknig of "Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," I've been sitting on the ARC to the follow-up. Now that it's been released, I feel like I should step it up and read it already.

Nice selection!

I've heard good things about The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and Margaret Atwood is usually worth reading.

Will check back on your reviews of the others, as they're new to me.

Enjoy!

Some good ones here. I received Baking Cakes in Kigali last week and it sounds so good. I can't wait to read Atwood's new one too.

I'm looking forward to your review of the new Atwood book. It's on my shelf. Not sure it's my cup of tea, but I've enjoyed some of her books in the past, so I'm going to give it a go.

Also looking forward to your take on the Atwood book. I'm just "finishing" it up.
