Sunday Salon

How great is it to have Daylight Savings Time fall on Halloween? I mean, you get to stay out late because it's not a work/school night, on a night full of fun things to do, and then sleep in an extra hour the next day?

And it was a perfect fall day- sunny and in the 60's, perfect for showing off that costume and walking around collecting candy.

I hope everyone who celebrates had a great Halloween yesterday. My husband and I dressed up in Star Trek costumes and passed out candy at my inlaws' house in the 'burbs after spending the afternoon carving pumpkins. Jeff is an amazing pumpkin carver and manages to outdo himself every year. Check out this year's pumpkins- a scary

owl, and then, because we're a reading family, a pumpkin carving of Edgar Allan Poe. How cool is that?

Afterward, we went to a local jazz club to hear

one of our friends perform with his band. What a terrific day!

Today? Today I'm writing. Like, not blog stuff but writing stuff. I joined NaNoWriMo and while I don't expect to be the next Faulkner I think it will be a good experience for me. I also just joined a writing workshop my husband has been in for a couple of years now and today is my first meeting with them. Wish me luck!!!

I hope everyone has a great Sunday. You can read more Sunday Salon posts here.

And here I thought my pumpkin carving skills were pretty sweet. Wow to those pumpkins.

My only problem with Daylight Savings was that kids were trick or treating when it was light outside. Kind of defeats the purpose of halloween in my opinion.

The owl is just amazing! And how terrific that you joined NaNo, because you're so good, and so I think it really will be rewarding both for you and for whomever you allow to read the product of your endeavors! The other people in your writing workshop are going to wonder why such a good writer is in there! Knock 'em dead!!! :--)

Absolutely good luck! Such an amazing experience - reveals much of the self we did not event suspect was there. And those pumpkins are gorgeous! Ours did not quite look like that. We were proud we managed eyebrows on one this year. :) Happy reading!

We didn't even get the pumpkins carved. They were colored with sharpies. BTW, don't color pumpkins with sharpies. It rubs off onto hands and clothes and then stays put. Love your pumpkins.

Welcome to nanowrimo.

Good luck with NaNo--I'm not crazy enough to join but I look forward to cheering everyone else on.

Those pumpkins are really rockin! I am glad that you had such a nice Halloween and that the weather was so mild for you. We are still hoping for cooler temperatures here in Florida, but I guess that's just to be expected. Also, good luck on your writing!
