Musing Mondays: Blogs and Inspiration

This week’s musing is about reading…blogs!
As a book blogger, does reading others’ blogs spark ideas for what to write on your own?

Of course! I get ideas all the time from others' blogs. I keep a folder of bookmarks of thoughtful or thought-provoking posts and I get ideas from challenges, memes, etc. The great thing about blogging is the community of bloggers and how we all learn from each other! Now I just need to get back in the habit of writing more opinion posts.

Reading other blogs helped me create some of my challenges. Being in the community also helps me not to give up, though I dip I manage not to totally fall. Then there are responses which take the form of blog posts.

In fact the structure of my blog was influenced by several bloggers. I learn all the time.

My TBR comes almost entirely from reviews of bloggers whose opinions I have come to respect. Of course I don't always agree with their opinion once I've read a book, but I still appreciate it when a review is a starting place!

I agree that I need to get back to writing some opinion posts.
I guess I actually do "borrow' to the extent that I partake in a couple of meme...especially Musing Monday. But then we all take that and make it unique, make it ours...our own unique voice is what I think blogging is all about.

I find that I do a lot of posts based on my opinions, so I don't get too many ideas from others. I understand how much it can help if you don't do this a lot though! Feel free to check out my Musing Monday here.

Certainly the memes I pick up from other bloggers. I admire those who write more personal/opinion posts. I'd love to do that but get so apprehensive of 'fights' on my blog.

I like your idea of keeping a folder of ideas. I should do that.

I am always looking towards other blogs to see what they are doing, but have trouble implementing different things because I tend to just like to stick to simple reviews. I am a little reluctant to post opinion pieces or more personal bits on my blog for some reason, but I do enjoy reading them and daydreaming about taking more chances. This was a great question that I had never really considered before!

I like challenges (of course, they always stimulate me into trying something new! I've grown so much from participating in reading challenges, even if it's just one new author or genre for me), and I like opinion posts very much. But, I think one of my favorite kinds of posts is the kind that gives us a glimpse into the blogger's life. Not too personal, mind you, just the ones with photographs or little anecdotes. I should bookmark things as you said you do, but somehow I can never use Google Reader with enough regularity to make it worth my while.

I haven't written a lot of opinion posts because I don't always have strong opinions - I guess I'm too wishy-washy

I've got opinions about everything, but I've rarely, if ever, written a strictly "opinion piece". I will soon, perhaps about an LT group I have a love-hate relationship with. Thanks for the idea!

I've read books I wouldn't have picked up on my own thanks to other bloggers, and also get ideas from challenges and memes. I really enjoy reading opinion posts, and have been inspired by other bloggers to write a couple of my own. I love your posts, and am looking forward to more opinion posts! :)

Every once in a while I respond to another blogger's ideas with my own point of view, but mostly reading blogs makes me add to my tbr list.
