Sunday Salon- Happy Easter, and I'm Taking a Break

It's been another busy week. Work has been crazy and the store had an Easter egg hunt yesterday. Oh my. I'm so glad for the holiday! Happy Easter and/or Passover. We made some coconut cupcakes with cream cheese frosting for Easter dinner dessert; despite my Lenten ban on baked goods I tried one to make sure they're good. They are!

I doubt I'll have much time for reading today but I've been juggling a bunch of books for the past few weeks. April is young yet but so far it's a much better reading month for me than March! I'm going to try to mix it up with more nonfiction as well, and more graphic novels. I keep buying them so sooner or later I need to read them, right? I might do another mini read-a-thon on some day off to get a little caught up and save up some more reviews.

But I won't be blogging them for a while. I've decided to put the blog on hiatus for the rest of April. In four and a half years of blogging this will be my first break. Lately I've felt like things have gotten kind of stale; comments are way down, which leads me to think I'm not doing a good job keeping you engaged. My writing feels dull, the writing itself has become routine in a bad way and I think I need some time off. I do have a couple of outstanding commitments and will continue to manage the Europa Challenge blog. I'll keep reading and commenting on your blogs. I'll be around on Twitter. I'll be back soon.

More Sunday Salon here.

I am always in support of a break, but I will tell you that I don't think you've gone stale. From my perspective, I have had trouble getting to anyone's blog because I've been so busy. But I have noticed that traffic is way down on my blog too (and I wondered if they were getting bored of me!) so maybe it is just a THING. Like everyone is checking out, getting spring fever, whatever. I've had thoughts that maybe I should hang it up, but I'm not there. Yet. Have a good rest. I'll miss you...

Ditto to everything Sandy just wrote. I've noticed/experienced the same things lately. Hope you have good break. I'll see you on twitter...

Happy Easter! I feel like my posts are stale from time to time, so I know how you feel. Your posts definitely aren't stale. I agree with Sandy - a lot of people have spring fever right now. Enjoy your time away from the PC - you'll be missed.

Traffic/comments are way down on my blog, too, so I understand what you're feeling. Like everyone else, I think sometimes I get exhausted of visiting blogs and commenting often, but that doesn't mean that I don't still love the blog you have here :-) But you definitely deserve a break- enjoy April!

As someone who frequently takes breaks, I think it's a good idea to take one. I feel like my posts can be stale sometimes too which is why it's become so hard to write reviews. Maybe taking a break will help you find the energy you need for your blog. Take care of yourself.

I'll miss you--but I don't think you've gotten stale. I think everyone's blog traffic is a little off right now--spring breaks and spring fever combined, maybe? Having said that, I foresee a slowdown in my own blogging this month. Enjoy your break!

I never look at my stats..and try to ignore my comment count, so I have no idea if anyone likes my blog or not. Enjoy your break..but hurry back.

I'm sorry I've been bad at commenting! Not because you don't deserve them though. I hope you enjoy your break and come back refreshed and excited about blogging again!

Please come back after you enjoy your break! Blogging wouldn't be the same without you!

I understand the need for a break. They are always well-deserved. Enjoy yours!

Enjoy your break -- I don't think you're going stale at all. In fact, I think I'm one of those who used to comment, but hasn't as much -- I've found myself so immersed in commercial fic releases I feel like I have nothing interesting to offer bloggers who aren't reading these general mainstream novels. You're reading such fascinating stuff -- I feel like a dummy who can only say, 'sounds great!'. Ugh. I probably need a break, too!

Regardless, enjoy the unseasonably gorgeous weather.

I hope you had a wonderful holiday & completely know what you mean! But don't let comments discourage - you have a wonderful blog - and count on you to share some wonderful books that I might not otherwise come across! Breaks can be very rejuvenating - enjoy every moment and look forward to reading again when you are back!

Enjoy your break! I enjoy your sidebar advertisement for the new Zac Efron movie. Yes, I'm 36 and find him hot.

Enjoy your break-I think I was saying the same thing in my post just not as succinctly.

Sometimes a break is just what's needed to refresh oneself. I know I certainly needed one, and Lent seemed a good time to bring it on. I'm glad you took the time to comment on my blog though, and I'm trusting your break won't lapse into a l-o-n-g time!
