It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

Well I did finish Daniel Stein, Interpreter, and as expected it was wonderful. It was one of those books that makes me slow down towards the end because I don't want to finish! I want to buy a copy for everyone I know.

I put The Goldfinch aside for now, because its topic was hitting a little close to home for me at the moment, and picked up a crime novel instead.

Gene Kerrigan's The Midnight Choir is set as the Irish economy is in decline but before the big bust-up of 2008. It concerns a series of crimes- robbery, rape, murder- and the people who tie them together. It's kind of depressing at the moment but I'm going to keep reading. After this I'm going to pick something else off my shelves that's been sitting there for a while.

What about you? See more at BookJourney.wordpress.com.

I finished reading Yaba Badoe's True Murder and currently reading The Poor Christ of Bomba by Mongo Beti. It's an interesting story set in Bomba, Cameroon.

I cannot wait for your review of Daniel Stein! And Kerrigan is great but very GRITTY. Not the least bit light hearted. You have to be in the mood for stuff like that. I'm reading The Shining Girls right now (time traveling serial killer) and listening to Benediction. Benediction is beautiful...powerful but also quiet and not very happy!
