It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

I finished two books this week- Smoke, by Dan Vyleta, and Valley of the Dolls, by Jacqueline Susann. Valley of the Dolls is a classic and Smoke is a great summer read- and it just came out in paperback. So pick up both for the beach and you'll be all set.

Which leaves room in my beach bag for my next read, Less, by Andrew Sean Greer. This is a comic novel about a man's midlife crisis. I've heard it described as "genuinely funny" and "moving". Arthur Less finds out that the love of his life is getting married, and goes on a kind of bender that will take him around the world. I'm really enjoying the ride.

Bedside I'm still on The Romanov Sisters, by Helen Rappaport, which I like and find fascinating but the fact that I know it all ends so badly does make it bittersweet. Nonetheless I want to finish.

I'm back on audiobooks with Theft by Finding, David Sedaris's delightful, odd and idiosyncratic diaries from 1977-2002. It's the kind of book I want to listen to but I don't- I enjoy it so much, but I don't want it to end. And I'm loving being back on audiobooks. I also bought two more- Modern Romance, by Aziz Ansari, and We're Never Meeting in Real Life, by Samantha Irby, so I'll have plenty to listen to once I'm done with Sedaris. I am more or less convinced now that audio is the only way to properly enjoy Sedaris, since he reads his books himself and he's such a good narrator and actor of his own prose.

Which just leaves the gym bag. I'm actually not going to have time to hit the gym this week with one thing and another, so choosing a new read for the stationary bike will have to wait a while.

What are you reading this week?
