I finished reading this book and reluctantly closed the covers. I was so moved;I didn&#39;t want to leave the characters or their world. The NYT review was terse and dismissive--not at all how I felt. Your review is great - I was too emotional after finishing to be so coherent. I loved it, and told my husband the same as you said: you MUST read this book! Also, while reading it, I kept dragging him out to ethnic restaurants, wanting somehow to get that curry and cumin and wot-not (ha ha) (although in Tucson you mostly just end up getting salsa)! But anyway, it was wonderful.
