I think I'm always struggling between one pile of books or the other. ARCs versus personal TBRs, TBRs versus well-loved books. TBRs versus what looks lovely on the library shelf. It comes with the territory. Where would we be without a little conflict and guilt, right? ;)

Actually I haven't reread a book in ages since rereading The Lord of the Rings in elementary and high school-- or at least, none one that I can remember. I have too many books on my TBR list, to do so.

My husband is not a book collector the way I am, so I have to take into account his feelings about piles of books in the house. So for the longest time (about seven years now) I haven't bought brand new books, just used copies at book sales, which doesn't solve the book storage problem because I actually buy more books for cheaper prices, but I digress.

I get most of the books I read from the library.

I have found that I own a lot of books that I haven't read. I like to keep a reserve, like in case the library burns down or something. :)

I do have a few favorites that I read over and over again, but usually only when I'm not feeling well. They become comfort items. I know I own some books that I will probably never read again, but I have a hard time parting with them.

I have no real system, my reading is all habit-based. If something on my TBR doesn't interest me I go back to an old favorite.

I don't really have a system other than the financial one for deciding between new reads and re-reads. If I've got money to buy new, that's what I do, and when I run out of book budget for the month, I start re-reading my favorites and comfort reads to tide me over. :) One thing I've found myself doing is keeping strategically placed piles of books around the house so that my reading tastes are reflected throughout. It's one of the ideas I got from reading Jill Butler's Create the Space You Deserve. I deserve books, new and old, so they're a big part of my decorating scheme now too!

That's great that you have the opportunity to help your teachers by becoming familiar with the curriculum. Nice! I am really selective about any books I consider re-reading. But, I wish I could read more of my favorites once more.
