The stories she told about life in Cuba during that time were harrowing. I would love to read this and see it from another person's angle. This sounds like a book I should read, especially as I work with an HIV population, many of whom are gay and quite a few are Hispanic, a few are Cubans. I like what you wrote about the "truthfulness of what he wrote". Most of the time I think memoirs are exaggerated by a push from editors to sell the book or for people to get attention.
