Sunday Salon

I don't even know what's up for today!

I'm off to work soon; I'm hoping there will be some new books waiting for me in the mail when I get there but I have a feeling it's going to be reading-lite afternoon. I am going to bring Mudbound in my purse for reading on the bus ride home though. I'm 3/4 of the way through it and I'll have my review soonish. The author, Hillary Jordan, graduated from the same college I did (she's Wellesley class of '84; I'm '95), and I'm hoping to do a quick interview with her for the blog as well.

What I really want to do today is work on some crafts- I have a bee in my bonnet to do some paper piecing. I have this great pattern book called Spellbinding Quilts, which has patterns of dragons and wizards and that sort of thing- I want to make a dragon and wizard quilt for my husband. I made a couple of wizards already so I could easily use one of them in a dragon quilt.

I just have to remember to be patient- one wizard took me five hours since I'm a beginner at paper piecing. But I think I can do it!

What challenges have you taken on lately?

I've been challenging myself by learning how to use my new iPhone. Tricky.

Wow - a dragon and wizard quilt sounds like a lot of work. I want to see pictures when you're through too.

I have challenged myself with a very topple-prone stack of books from the library.

I am also trying to get the house in such a state that we can hire a contractor to do some renovation.

good luck with the dragon quilt!

Looking forward to reading your thoughts on Mudbound. I want to read it too. No challenges for me now...unless you count trying to write FAST for the next 7 weeks before school is out! That will be a challenge.

Working on Sunday at the library? My challenge is to wrap up Gone with the Wind and to write a final exam for my class.

wow that's a gorgeous piece! I hope the library was quiet and you finished your book.

My challenge: getting access to my blog again after it was hijacked by a pornographer! I am busy resetting passwords at many sites. What a horrible thing for someone to do for a lark!

I read Mudbound for the LT Authors Challenge and loved it. I look forward to your review and interview. I can't wait to see what she writes next.
