For something different, I’m borrowing a question from … here! One of the very first questions ever at Booking Through Thursday. Back from 2005 when Laura owned the blog but, because it was so new, it didn’t get as many responses as it does now … so, why not revisit?
Here’s the question:
Some people read one book at a time. Some people have a number of them on the go at any given time, perhaps a reading in bed book, a breakfast table book, a bathroom book, and so on, which leads me to…
- Are you currently reading more than one book?
- If so, how many books are you currently reading?
- Is this normal for you?
- Where do you keep your current reads?
I just finished my BTT post and realized I have 8 books going. 8! How did that happen? lol
ReplyDeleteI've usually got a book with me, wherever I go, too. All my purses have to be big enough to hold at least one book, and preferably two or three.
ReplyDeleteThe major requirement of any purse I buy is "Can I put a book in it?" Actually, I have to be able to fit at least one book in it, as well as my writing tablet and pens for whenever inspiration strikes me.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking with a title like "The Story of French," it couldn't be anything but dull. On the upside, it makes a great bedtime story... puts ya right to sleep ;-)
I agree short books are great. Sometimes I choose my challenge books based on page numbers, that always keeps things interesting!

I can only handle one at a time. My little brain can't handle all of those plots at once.

I usually have 2-3 going at once too. Sometimes my attention span for a book is short.
ReplyDeleteI usually manage with just one in order to focus on the story and the writing. I have my current book with me everywhere I go.
ReplyDeleteBtw, I just bought Sonata for Miriam and Still Alice for the price of one at the bookstore!
It's not always easy to decide to give up on a book you're almost done with, is it?
ReplyDeleteI tend to only read one book at a time, although sometimes I can manage two, depending on the book. I just carry my one book with me everywhere.
I also have a purse big enough to carry my book around in. I wouldn't want to be without it if I was forced to wait somewhere!

I just finished Sag Harbor. I usually have several books going at the same time. With grad course I have one week to read a book usually 300-400 pages. Then I read one or two that I'm reviewing. Along with that I read my choice book. Lastly I read a book for my upper elementary kids to keep on top of things. I don't usually write these on my blog or Library Thing.

Oh...I'm reading Mrs. Lincoln by Catherine Clinton, Tone Deaf in Bangkok, The Calligrapher's Daughter and All Other Nights + All Other Whiteness(for class)
I almost gave up on The Story of French as well, but I'm glad I persevered as I found the final 3 or 4 chapters more interesting than the rest of the book combined.
