Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about books on your wishlist…
Last week we talked about keeping a wishlist. Why not pull out that list and show us some of the books you’ve been eyeing off?
My wishlist includes
- The Original of Laura, by Vladimir Nabokov,
- No Tomorrow, by Vivant Denon,
- The Ladies from St. Petersburg, b y Nina Berberova,
- The Making of a Marchioness, by Frances Hodgson Burnett,
- The Last of the Angels, by Fadhil Al-Azzawi,
- My Name Is Red, by Orhan Pamuk,
- A Gate at the Stairs, by Lorrie Moore,
- Burnt Shadows, by Kamila Shamsie,
- Paris Stories, by Mavis Gallant,
- The Broken Teaglass, by Emily Arsenault,
You can read more Musing Mondays at JustOneMorePage.blogspot.com.
That seems like a very high brow list. As I posted, really the only books that seem to stay on my list are books that are not out let, since I tend to buy all the rest...
ReplyDeleteI think that I have a book illness...lol
Making of a Marchioness is so much fun! Perhaps a tad lacking in the, erm, ethnic sensitivity department... but probably far better than could be reasonably expected from a book of the time!
ReplyDeleteI have most of the Persephone books if you ever want to borrow one. My mother used to volunteer there so she was an early adopter.
I'm glad you added "and more" at the end, since my list is a mile long.
ReplyDeleteI have a copy of My Name Is Red for a while... just not gotten 'round to reading it.
ReplyDeleteI haven't even heard of the others (ooops!), but look forward to seeing your reviews if and when you get 'round to them.
My list is way too long at the moment... :(
I have heard of a few of them, but haven't read any on your list.
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I have a Nabokov and the Arsenault ones on my list as well.
ReplyDeleteI wrote down a couple of the titles you mentioned that I was not familar with as well.
The Original of Laura is on my list, too.
ReplyDeleteA GATE AT THE STAIRS is on my wish list as well!

Anyone wishlisting A Gate at the Stairs should go ahead and get it. It's worth buying, especially considering that this is Moore's first book in eleven years.
ReplyDeleteThe Original of Laura is on my list, as well as Ava or Ardor
I know I shouldn't be adding to my wish list while reading others, but some of the titles really catch my eye. :-)
ReplyDeleteLike you, I am keeping my eye on the hardcovers on my wish list for the paperback release dates. It's been hard to wait with some of them, but I've been good.
