I'll have to try out this author too!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1359999156621466745.post-23179000100888817792008-08-04T12:52:00.000-04:002008-08-04T12:52:00.000-04:00I love mysteries/crime fic and have been enjoying ...I love mysteries/crime fic and have been enjoying a lot of the Scandinavian thrillers that have been coming out in the past couple of years. I haven't read this one but it's on my TBR list! More than literary fiction? Hard to say. What's hard for me is recognizing literary fiction without having to read it first! Genre is easy to identify but when it comes to mainstream fiction there is such a wide range that it's hard to tell sometimes. I don't know how much international literary fiction gets translated and sold here; I think mystery/suspense sells better and tends to be marketed more aggressively and more pointedly, hence the influx of European crime writing. Someone figured out that hey, Americans like crime writing and there are these great Euro crime writers- let's bring them here. I think there's plenty of good literature out there but the trick is finding it.Marie Cloutierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14938166831865436287noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1359999156621466745.post-38911296417540488192008-08-01T19:55:00.000-04:002008-08-01T19:55:00.000-04:00A thoughtful review, Marie. Do you think, as a librarian, more new books are in this genre rather than literature?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1359999156621466745.post-24028354501359507622008-08-01T19:37:00.000-04:002008-08-01T19:37:00.000-04:00Thanks for the review, Marie! I've been wanting to branch out, though, so I think I'll give Eriksson a try.Ruth Kinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06863703037623512619noreply@blogger.com
