New on the Bookshelf

Derek B. Miller's Norwegian by Night is a crime novel and part of the series that includes his most recent book, How To Find Your Way in the Dark. I picked it up at the local used bookstore.

Kiese Laymon's memoir Heavy was recommended to me in a writing class I took recently. I bought it at the fantastic Porter Square Books in Cambridge, Mass., my former workplace.

We Don't Know Ourselves: A Personal History of Modern Ireland by Fintan O'Toole came out in paperback recently and I've been meaning to pick it up. I got it at Transom Bookshop in Tarrytown, N.Y.
