Sunday Salon: March's Accomplishments, April's Goals

March was one of the duller reading months I've had recently. I blamed it on review obligations but that's not really fair, since I'd read the same books anyway! For April, I'd like to focus on 2012 releases but I'm sure I won't stick to that 100%. It seems like every time I say I'm going to stick to a particular theme I end up going off course almost immediately! One thing I miss reading is nonfiction. So far this year I've read fiction almost exclusively. I still haven't read Steve Jobs, or Vera, or Travels in Siberia, or Roger Ebert's autobiography. I need to!

Today I'm finishing up the Hunger Games trilogy- I have about three chapters of Mockingjay and then I'll be able to write about the series sometime soon. I had a blast reading the hilarious Goodbye Kiss earlier this week; if you like noirs and crime fiction and you're not reading Massimo Carlotto, you really need to. I'll have a full review this week. It's the first one of his books I'd call funny but it really is.

Here's a question for you. What's the one 2012 release you think I have to read?

I'm fighting back a head cold and decorating the house for Easter today, as well as getting passport photos for our fall trip to Italy. What are you up to today? I hope you have a great Sunday. More Sunday Salon here.

I'm the same way. I'll make a stack of books to read and swear I'm going to stick to that stack and almost always get distracted.

The one 2012 book I think you *have* to read is The Winter Palace. It's the best book I've read so far this year and based on the sense of your taste I've gathered from the blog, I think you'd like it. However, I'll be interested to see what you think of other 2012 releases, I'm reading more new releases this year than usual.

March was not a very productive reading month for me, and I've fallen behind with my reading goals. Spent the past few days working on my blog for Bloggiesta, so no reading. :(

Here's hoping that April is much more productive!

What a lovely SUnday you have planned. I can't help you with your request because I have no head for remembering what's about to be released. I can't keep up with books already published to care about what's around the corner.

I only read 3 books and one was totally self-help (muscular retraining!) but the two I did read were satisfying. I hope April will have more quantity but also not diminished quality.
Happy April!

I've tried on numerous occasions to plan to read through a particular stack of titles in a given month and have failed miserably. I am a mood reader and there's no way of getting around that. Have a great week Marie.

The one 2012 title I think almost everyone has to read is Nick Harkaway's new novel Angelmaker!

My husband is listening to the Steve Jobs book right now and really enjoying it. I'm learning so much just from our dinner conversation :)
