Sunday Salon

Well this weekend is all about cleaning here at my house, so it's not really going to be about reading or doing much else!

One benefit of the cleaning has been that I've been able to reclaim some bookshelf space. In our den we have a bookcase that we've been using for random flotsam like computer cables, a toolbox, and other things-that-don't-go-anywhere-else. Well, since I do much of my reading in the den, and since lately I've been accumulating piles of books up here, my husband decided to clean off the shelves and give me a shelf for my books. Yay!

So here is my new TBR shelf:
Now, I've had this bookshelf since high school and I am absolutely thrilled that it has books on it again!

How much of a nerd am I!

What's making you feel nerdy today?

I love getting my bookshelves all neat and tidy. Yuck doesn't that sound nerdy.
Seriously, I'm hooked on a Street Racing game on facebook. Now that's nerdy. I don't even like car racing.
LOL.

I've been trying to get my husband to move his computer stuff off of the book shelves, with no success.

Nerdy. I don't like that word. It sounds so mean and almost everything I love is a little nerdy...reading...learning a new language...going to museums...talking politics and religion....Why do all these things that are so wonderful have such a negative feeling in the popular culture?

I was never so excited as when my husband finally conceded defeat and went to Ikea with me to buy those beautiful, simple tall bookcases to cover one wall of our living room. Ever since I was a little girl, I've wanted a library, or at least a room with a few floor-to-ceiling bookcases. Granted this set is only about 5 feet wide, but it's a start!

Not sure why but I subscribe to your feed through google reader and right now each post is just showing a google banner ad. I have to click on the post to go to your actual site and read the post. IT wasn't doing this before.

Yesterday in MySpace account, I found I had 24 artists that I loved that had the first name starting with A... so I put them in my top 40. Allison Sattinger is the first angel... if you never heard of her, go to www.myspace.com/allisonsattinger ... it would be worth the visit.

Like Callista, I'm also getting just a google ad in feed. :(

I only ever got partial feed before but this is really partial...

I've been trying to convince my husband we need another bookshelf, but he's not buying it. Yet.

Sorry about the ad thing. I'm trying to figure out what happened but I'm not sure. In the mean time I tried to get rid of them. Not sure it's gonna work...

Not a nerd at all. I can't wait to reclaim my kid's rooms so I can put bookshelves all around them.

That looks ace, I feel ashamed of my coffee table of "to be reads" which is looking like a bombsite.

Yay for you, Marie! :) A bookshelf of your own, in my opinion, is an important substance in life! :)

I had an empty shelf for my TBRs once.
Now it is full.
And there is a pile next to it. Well, a tall pile and a smaller pile. And then there is the ARC pile next to my reading chair...

Believe me, Marie, if there was a way to send our weather or exchange it I would. Winters in Michigan are horrible and lately way too long.

What a lovely, tidy shelf! Though I have to say, my series of teetering stacks definitely inspires me to read!
