Booking Through Thursday: Time is of the Essence

1. Do you get to read as much as you WANT to read?

(I’m guessing #1 is an easy question for everyone?)

2. If you had (magically) more time to read–what would you read? Something educational? Classic? Comfort Reading? Escapism? Magazines?

No, I don't get as much time as I want to read. Who does? :-)

If I had more time to read, I'd just keep plowing through my TBR pile- get past the review obligations and recent releases, and tackle some of the larger books on my shelf- Middlemarch, The Golden Notebook, a re-read of Crime and Punishment, and so on. Then there's the back end of the TBR pile- the stuff that's been there forever. I'd love to knock off a few of those. And manga. I can't even remember the last time I read a manga. I don't need extra time for magazines because I read those at the gym.

Yes, I've been trying to get to The Golden Notebook for years now. It's been a while since I tackled one of those really hefty chunksters.

No one has enough reading time, and we all could use more to read what we like. Happy BTT!

Golden Notebook: years ago, my brother warned me not to start it, because it wasn't that good. I didn't listen to him. Kinda wish I had. It's been too many years, so I no longer remember why I was disappointed.

Does any "real reader" have enough reading time? I don't think so.

Oooh, what a fun blog. I'm so glad I found it today.

I hope you win the book we are giving away over at my place!

You listed good reads. Go for those!

Here is my BTT post

I'm the same as you as I would just plow through my TBR pile if I had more time. :)

I said the same. I'd just read more of what I want.

I guess most of our priorities are tackling our TBR pile. I forgot to mention about mangas too! ;)

I think there's never enough time to read all the books I'd want to read. Every time I go to the store, my list magically grows again with all the new offerings. Don't even get me started on all the classics I'd like to read and re-read.

Right now, I'd just like enough time to finish The Fairest Star by David Field. I'm almost to the end, and spending way more time reading than I should be because I just can't put it down.

Not enough time to read or write here!

What would I read if I had more time...I would try to get through the Brothers Karamazov. I've been on page 65 for ages.

Haha...I read magazines on the treadmill and the hair salon...

I usually read two hours over breakfast every morning, taking my time and sitting at the sunniest spot at my neighborhood coffee shop. (It's San Francisco...everyone has their coffee at the cafes). Then I'll slip in some reading time when no students come for office hour. I'll read a bit more at home in the evening since I don't watch much TV.

I'm jobless. I have all the time in the world to read. My problem is lack of attention span, not lack of time. I know I'm in the minority of reading addicts on this one.

I'm currently on a break so I'm hoping to make a huge dent in my TBR - hopefully I'll be able to finally finish those great classics - Anna Karenina, War and Peace and Crime and Punishment.

I'm like you--TBR pile, here I come!

I have fibromyalgia so I have all the time in the world to read. And thank god for that. There are days when I cannot even read but mostly I can. My life works different than when I worked. Now when I have a good day I try to get in as much work as I can and then most of the time I read or watch films.

I would agree with you - if I had more time I would just keep plowing through the TBR pile which grows daily.

Yeah, I'd like to put a little dent in my TBR pile too!

I cherish the time I actually do get to read so much, I wonder if I would take it for granted if I could just sit around and read all day. Like the idea that you have to have bad in the world to recognize the good, you know? :)
