Three finds this week- three great finds.
I got Hilary Mantel's Wolf Hall, a long but incredibly interesting-looking historical fiction that was shortlisted for this year's Man Booker Prize, for review from the publisher. It has to do with King Henry VIII and Thomas Cromwell; I think if I had seen this in a bookstore I would have been too intimidated to take it on, but I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I agreed to review it. So we'll see!
Revolutionary Road, Richard Yates's novel, came via Bookmooch, as did John Irving's The World According to Garp. Both were made into movies I enjoyed. I just saw Garp last week for the first time in years and was puzzled by a number of things, so I thought reading the book might help!
When was the last time you read a book that had been made into a movie you liked?
You can find more Friday Finds here!

Wow these reads look good! I think Wolf Hall looks so wonderful!
Wolf Hall looks interesting.
My Finds are HERE
Last week i watched Angels and Demons.I have liked the book and was thinking of the movie when I borrowed it from a friend. It was pretty good but not as good as the novel.
I used to wonder how it felt like to review a book given to you by a publisher or an author until I received one.
Lucky you to get a review copy of Wolf Hall! I really enjoyed Revolutionary Road, but still haven't seen the movie.
I LOVED Revolutionary Road, and am anxiously waiting for Wolf Road. Great finds.
I haven't heard of WOLF HALL but it looks really interesting.

I'd like to read Revolutionary Road even though I know it's kind of sad. I really enjoyed the book and the movie of The Reader.
My finds are up!
As far as movies from books go, I thought the Revolutionary Road movie was absolutely fantastic. Sam Mendes knows how to make domestic drama riveting, dangerous, and sensually chaotic. I thought it did a lot for Yates' source material.
I just watched John Krasinski's well-meaning version of David Foster Wallace's Brief Interviews with Hideous Men and found it to be just okay. Some of the performances are riveting, but most of the directorial tricks are fairly over tread at this point. Admirable effort worth watching once. Would work better on stage.
I really liked the movie version of LITTLE CHILDREN (and read the book). Most of the adaptions I've seen lately, I haven't read the book yet. But I am looking forward to seeing THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE and THE ROAD.
I am also currently reading Rev Road!!! Love it!!
I can't wait for the U.S. release of Wolf Hall. I'll look forward to hearing your thoughts!
You said you had three Friday Finds, but there were only two - is there another? (Because clearly I need more help adding to my TBR piles).
NomadReader- The World According to Garp. I didn't have a photo, sorry! :-)
I'm definitely in the minority but I didn't really like Revolutionary Road. Maybe it was that I was going through a bad spell with books, but it didn't grab me. Can't wait to hear what you think of it.
I am so psyched to read Wolf Hall, and will be anxiously awaiting it's release. I'll be interested in hearing what you think of it. I loved both the movie and book version of Revolutionary Road,it was an incredibly moving and complex story. I hope you enjoy the books!
