Friday Finds

This week's finds includes one classic, one nonfiction memoir and one book club pick.

The classic is E.M. Forster's A Passage to India. I remember seeing the movie a long time ago and since I love Forster's other books, thought it was time to read this one.

Children of Dust, by Ali Eteraz, came to me for review from FSB Associations. It's his memoir of growing up in Pakistan.

Finally, for November my book club is going to be discussing Tariq Ali's Shadows of the Pomegranate Tree, a relatively recent novel set in Moorish Spain.

I read A Passage to India for my literature class in school long time back. I re-read it three years back. I liked it.

Here is my post: Friday Find: Waiting for Columbus by Thomas Trofimuk

Passage to India is probably one of those books I should get around to reading some day.

I too read A Passage to India long, long ago. But that cover is so beautiful that I am tempted to buy it again. Hmm....off to Library Thing to see if I still own the first copy. If not, great excuse!

I'm typically interested in books that deal with fascinating times in history (Moorish Spain) but also have that suspicion of books where the author's name is ten times larger than the title. And in this case the title is practically impossible to find! Hm, a conundrum. Well, maybe I'll wait to see what you think of the finds. Here's to hoping you enjoy them.

Anonymous, I know what you mean! But I've noticed this phenomenon across all genres over the last few years, from pop fic and chick lit to scifi to lit fic- so I try not to let it bother me but I do understand your feelings!

Hmm, I thought I had a copy of A Passage to India in my library, but a quick peek tells me I am mistaken. That's too bad, because I have heard great things about the book. I will be excited to hear what you think of it. I also added Shadow's of the Pomegranate Tree to my wish list. It sounds like something that I would really like. Great books this week, I hope you enjoy them!
