Unfinished Friday

Any unfinished reads this week? Leave a link or comment below and we'll visit each other and share our unfinished books.

I know most of us endeavor to finish everything we read, but we don't have to, and sometimes it's impossible- it just doesn't work for us, for one reason or another. But it's still possible to get some mileage out of that work for your blog- by sharing it with us here on Fridays!

My unfinished pick this week is Jean-Benoit Nadeau and Julie Barlow's The Story of French. It's not a bad book- it's a fine and interesting history of the French language- its growth, its influence and its future. I'm a Francophile and I enjoyed reading it, but at some point I put it down and just never picked it back up again. The sad part is I think I only have a chapter or two left! Does that ever happen to you?

Leave a comment or a link to a post on your blog about a book you haven't finished- I'd love to know!

My Unfinished Friday link for this week is about Bolano's 2666 (or should I say, only 266, or maybe 26 - ha ha) and is here:

yes, it is very early in the year, but I have been on such a good book roll so far...

Only one week into the new year and I've already made good on my resolution to not waste time on books I don't care for. I know Sookie Stackhouse is a favorite around the blogasphere but I couldn't get page 15 if Dead Before Dark.

If I was that close to the end, I'd have to finish it, but I stress over dumb stuff and put a lot of pressure on myself.

Only a chapter or two left!?!? Just finish it!

My unfinished book this fine Friday is The Elegance of the Hedgehog. Just couldn't get into it. http://booksslicedanddiced.wordpress.com/2010/01/08/unfinished-friday-the-elegance-of-the-hedgehog/

sounds a bit like a snoozefest to me, but that's why there are so many genres out there :-) IDK, with so little left, it might be worth just white-knuckling the last couple chapters to count it finished.

haven't abandoned any this year yet (been reading kinda slow though) but last year I abandoned 19... (you can see them here: http://mentalfoodie.blogspot.com/search/label/Books%20-%202009)

I reckon there are so many books out there I want to read, so not going to waste my time on something I didn't find interesting enough (to me)!

I am in the middle of three books right now, but I don't think these count, as I haven't totally given up on any of them yet! I am hoping to get back to a couple of them...eventually I will!

I read this one after seeing it on your blog. If I were to read it again, I'd read the first couple of chapters and the last one or two and skip everything in the middle. Trust me - the last few chapters were the best bit of the book and it's really, really worth reading them if you can.

My first ever DNF books list went up earlier in the week. I hope that's ok. I forgot you did this on Friday.

There is nonfiction about coal miners in Canada, historical fiction by Georgette Heyer, Sharon Lathan's continuation of her P&P sequels, and more.
