BEA and Book Blogger Con- The Books

That's my stack from BEA, not including the Book Blogger Con swag bag and a few assorted things I got for my husband and a stack I got for the conference I'm speaking at next week. (I'm going to do a raffle giveaway of a dozen or so Jewish-interest fall and summer titles culled from what was on offer at Book Expo last week.)

What am I looking forward to?
Steve Martin's An Object of Beauty;
Paul Auster's Sunset Park, which I got signed;
Jane Gardam's God on the Rocks,
Joshilyn Jackson's Backseat Saints, which I'm reading now and enjoying;
The Great Lover, by Jill Dawson, which was on my wish list before BEA and then showed up in the Book Blogger Con swag bag,
The Outside Boy, Jeanine Cummins's book about Irish Travellers, also a BBC swag bag offering,
The Debba, by Avner Mandelman,
A Curable Romantic, by Joseph Skibell,
and so much more.

It's going to be an incredible summer and fall for books. Bring it on!

What are you excited to read this year?

Looks like you got some goodies there! I will be posting the books The Girl and I took home on Monday. I was very good and only brought home 6 books for myself, and I'm very excited about them.

Happy reading!

I didn't know Skibell had a new book out - sounds like you have so much great reading ahead!

Looks like you have a nice stack to choose from with some really great titles. Every time I see what other people brought back from BEA, I'm surprised by how many books I missed. I wonder how many books a person would have if they got every possible giveaway...

Great selection of books! Sorry I missed out on Steve Martin's book, as he's pretty good. Enjoy!

I actually poked my bottom lip out, sad-face style when I saw the bit about the signed Paul Auster novel. I adore and worship him (and think he was quite the dashing dandy in his younger days). I'm so thrilled that you could get your book signed, but if we ever run into each other, I'd be likely to pick-pocket it with little regret. ;)

Gee whiz with all the loot you bloggers hauled away from BEA I'm wondering if I made the right decision in becoming an author!

I'm jealous! :)

A very great reading summer! Currently reading The Great Lover and would not ming having that new Auster or the Steve Martin. Or any of them really. Maybe I will luck out at ALA this month. Cross your fingers for me.

Um, minor question: How did you bring all those books home? I'm most impressed!

This summer I'm looking forward to a ton of books for my just begun Japanese Literature Challenge 4 (only one required!), and read alongs of Dante's Divine Comedy, Don Quixote, and Middlemarch. Looks like rather a classical summer for me. :)

Great haul you got! I will be interested in your thought on Steve MArtin's book. I loved Shopgirl and The Pleasure of my Company

What a wonderful bunch of books you scored at BEA. I'm really looking forward to reading the one about the Irish Travellers. I just read a guest post from the author on another site and the book sounds really interesting.

Ooooh ahhhh oooooh. I'm soooo jealous.

No, really. The director of the library where I work went to the expo and she did pick up us these huge book bags. However, I would have liked to have been able to fill the bags with books myself naturally.

Books I'm excited to read later this year: The Language of Bees by Laurie R. King, The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski and Brasyl and River of Gods by Ian McDonald, to name just a handful.

Anna, sometimes quality is more important than quantity! :-) I'll make sure to drop by.

Andi, you'll have to get through me for that book!

Meredith, I got them home via the miracle of UPS :-) BEA has great show-floor shipping.

Looks like you got a lot of great books in those stacks, including some of the same ones I got from BBC.

That's awesome that you got a Paul Auster book signed! He's a talented writer that takes an interesting approach to the novel :)
