Last weekend Harvard Bookstore held its semiannual warehouse sale, where they open a big building filled with remainders and used books. I got a few cool things- Iain Banks' novel The Steep Approach to Garbardale, John Williams' Stoner and a collection of comics by animator Lev Yilmaz, a favorite of mine. Banks is another favorite; he's an established science fiction author who also writes amazing literary fiction. I can't wait to read this one!
Forget Sorrow, a graphic novel by Belle Yang, came for review from her publicist.
The Lacuna, Barbara Kingsolver's recent Orange Prize winner, came from my pal Frances at NonSuch Book, a wonderful literary fiction book blog.What are you reading today? Have a great weekend!

Ooh, I am jealous of your NYRB edition of Stoner! People really liked that during the Spotlight Series!
How I wish we had these types of sales in my part of the world. Yet again, just another way to put book temptation in my way, perhaps it isn't such a good thing.
I have heard great things about Stoner and The Lacuna, and will be really interested in hearing what you think. The warehouse sale sounds like it was a lot of fun. Wish we had one around here!! Enjoy your new reads, Marie!
I am on a roll with Orange Prize winners....I haven't run into a single one that I didn't just love.
I haven't read The Lacuna yet, though. It's on my list and I'll look forward to hearing what you think of it.
