Sunday Salon- The Summer is Ticking Away

I can't believe it's already the middle/nearly the end of August. Where has the summer gone?

Today I'm relaxing as I usually do on Sundays; there's a nice breeze coming in and I'm just soaking in the summer. Reading? Yeah, I'm doing a little of that, too! I've got Dorothea Benton Frank's book Bulls Island going, and I'm really enjoying it. There's a story I should tell you someday about the time a friend and I crashed her table (by mistake!) at a library conference dinner (she was really nice about it), but for now let's just say that I'm glad to be finally getting around to her book. I know it's been out for a while, and there are already several sequels, but hey.

After I'm done with this, and it's going quickly, I'm moving on to The Debba, by Avner Mandelman, an Israeli thriller that came out this spring from the wonderful Other Press. It looks great; I've yet to read anything from Other Press which is anything other than wonderful.

For now I'm going to sip some more iced tea and enjoy the day. I hope you do, too! What are you doing to make it great?

More Sunday Salon here.

Definitely wondering where the summer went too. The leaves are already changing!

At BEA this year, I got to Dorothea Benton Frank's signing after she'd left the table - she'd been told to make room for the next person signing. She saw me approach the table and point to her books, so she came back and signed one for me. I chatted with her for a few minutes and found her to be extremely nice. I'm glad you're enjoying her book.

It has been too long a summer. I am wishing it away.

Here is my Sunday Salon post!

I have not read Benton-Frank in a while, but I have enjoyed her earlier books. Have a relaxing day Marie.

I like to read Frank's books because many of them are set around the area where friends and I like to go to the beach. I also like Mary Alice Monroe for the same reason (and a little better).

I'm at a chess tournament with my youngest, in Indianapolis, and reading while he plays his games.

I read a couple of Benton's books but just did not like them. I do like her settings though

I've downloaded this book of Dorothea Benton's for my Kindle. I've never read any of her books, but this seemed a perfect summer read.

Thanks for sharing the book and the story! (And they say librarians never have any fun!)

The daughter started school this past Tuesday, and yet is so wonderfully hot and lazy out still, especially today. I am disregarding tomorrow is the second week of school, at least until evening.

Hope you have an enjoyable Sunday.

Summer :( Here it is already gone, it's getting colder, and now I miss the heat. One month of sun is too brief.

The kids are starting school tomorrow, so summer is definitely over here! It sounds like you had a lovely day just reading and chilling out! I hope you have an excellent week!

I read the 2nd in the Hunger Games series, Catching Fire on Sunday...it was the first day in forever that I could just sit and read!

In your neck of the woods this week - I've visited Boston every year for the past 15 years (maybe more?), and my husband and I are heading up there this week! Hope the weather is good!

Summer has definitely flown by...much too quickly.
