Friday Finds! Really!

I got Minotaur, by Benjamin Tammuz, for the Europa Challenge, and I've already finished it. Review coming soon! It's an interesting book about a woman and the men who love her.
Inverted World, by Christopher Priest, is a science fiction novel about a man who lives in a city on rails. Priest wrote The Prestige and this book is even brainier and better than that one. I'm about halfway through it at the moment. My husband read it and encouraged me to read it as well. I'm glad to be taking his advice on this! Now he's got to read The Prestige and we'll be even.
I can't wait to get to Robert Pinget's intriguing-looking The Inquisitory. This was another one of my famous used bookstore impulse buys; it's one long conversation between a detective and a servant of a wealthy French household, an interrogation about unnamed crimes in ambiguous circumstances. It looks great!

That's it for me. Book-buying and acquisition has slowed to a crawl in the past few weeks. What's new on your shelf these days?

You have me hooked with THE INQUISITORY. I just started THE ABSOLUTELY TRUE ADVENTURES OF A PART-TIME INDIAN.

The second book reminds me of a review of a Russian book I read where the city was in a moving train and people were unaware (or so?) of where they are going.

Marie, you always manage to find the most interesting and unique titles, and I am always really excited to see what your Friday finds are going to be. I like the sound of all three of these, and one of the things I most appreciate about your blog is the fact that I know I am going to see some lesser known books being highlighted. Love your new additions and I hope that you enjoy them all!

Ah, I really liked The Inverted World. Trippy concept and cool writing make for a very good book. I haven't read The Prestige yet but I figure I should... Priest seems like a very good author.
