It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

I think I'm reading too many books right now, because it seems I can't really finish anything or feel like I'm making any progress, so I'm going to cut down the number of books I have going and see if that helps.

Last week I read a quick-hit crime novel, Random Violence, by Jassy Mackenzie, which I enjoyed. Set in South Africa, it's a page-turner for sure. I'll write a review soon, because I think you crime readers would like it.

I'm still reading The Kept, which I expect to finish today or tomorrow, and Skippy Dies, which I'm kind of putting aside till I finish something else. I started two new books recently:

Remember Me Like This, by Bret Anthony Johnston, which is coming out in May. I don't know if I should say more, because Johnston is the husband of my friend Jennifer, with whom I work at the bookstore. But it's really good! It's about a missing child who is returned to his family after years of being lost.

I also started The Ghost Road, by Pat Barker, which won the Booker Prize in 1995. It's set in World War 1 and concerns a psychiatrist and his patients. It's the third in a trilogy and I'll probably read the other two at some point but I'm enjoying this one for now.

That's it for me right now. What about you? See more at BookJourney.wordpress.com.

I have a hard time just focusing on an audio and a print book, so I don't know how you keep track of everything! Interested in your opinion of Skippy. I'd have listened to that one ages ago if I could find the audio (which I heard was good). Now I'm about halfway through Joe Hill's "Nos4a2" which is crazy but that is exactly what you get with him. And reading "Winter's Tale", VERY SLOWLY. Plus it appears based on how many clicks it takes to advance a percentage that is a very long book.

If I try to read more than one book in print, I find that the more compelling book gets all of my attention.

I've recently been in the same boat you are - reading too many books at one time so I cannot seem to finish any of them and the longer they take, the worse it gets for me! I really want to read Skippy. Have wanted to for a couple of years but it's a very long book, no? I hope you liked it so far. I'm reading The Weird Sisters which I'm loving. Andrews Brain, weird but fun, Bingo's Run which I'm almost finished and really enjoying. I'm trying to concentrate just on these three right now! The book you're reading sound very good.
Enjoy!

Marie, don't take this the wrong way, but it makes me feel better that I'm not alone with losing my reading mojo. It's weird but all the books I started are pretty good too, it's just that I read a chapter or so and then put the book down:) January blahs I guess.

I'm in the middle of a lot of books right now. I think it's probably time for me to return some to the library unread. That might take the pressure off. I'm currently diving into The Perfect Score by Debbie Steir.

Have a good week.

I have not been able to read much at all. In the past however busy I was I somehow found the time to read. Even travelling I would read. Now it seems if I do a book a week I am lucky.

I know exactly what you mean about reading too many books at once. It seems like a good idea at first, and then after a while I'm frustrated that I haven't finished anything!

Right now I'm reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, and Queen of the Night by JA Jance. Goldfinch = awesome but long, Queen = interesting but slow to start.

I'm having the same problem, too many books at once! Who knows when I'll finish one :)
