Sunday Salon- Summer's Almost Up

I love summer. I love the sun, the warm weather, the cute clothes, the food, the long days, the beach, just everything. I've had a pretty great summer- I got to take a really nice cruise vacation, spend time on an island, go to the beach, eat all the things, be out in the sunshine, enjoy my summer outfits and just generally drink it all in. This past week we went to a really amazing concert at Radio City Music Hall, with Joe Hisaishi conducting a 150-person orchestra playing songs that he's written for the films of Hayao Miyazaki. It was incredible. Just amazing. And since I already had Covid a few weeks ago I'm hoping that none of my 5,000-odd fellow attendees gave it to me again. Fingers crossed!

It was just an incredible show. The music was spectacular and the big screens showed clips from the various films as the orchestra played. The concert was about 2 hours long and just unforgettable.

I've been keeping busy with my various projects- piano practice (including a Hisaishi number, "One Summer's Day," from the movie Spirited Away, which he did play at the show), learning Yiddish letters, a volunteer transcription project and my first day volunteering (again) at our local charity bookshop, Symposia Books. Follow them on Instagram for interesting finds and more from the shop floor. I'm hoping to make it fun.

Then yesterday we went to the Hello Kitty Cafe traveling van which made an appearance at a local mall in New Jersey. Today I'm going to eat the cookies I bought and catch up on some TV shows. The new season of "Indian Matchmaking" is up y'all!

What are you doing today?

We're enjoying the cooler temps in Ohio and looking at leaves slowly yellowing and getting red. We may be nostalgic for summer soon.

That concert sounds fabulous. Glad you had a good time in the Big Apple.

I'm venturing out, though (as yet) we have not had Covid here. My sister-in-law let us know that she's got it right now, and we saw her briefly this week, but she says it's nothing more than a little cold.
