Sunday Salon: In Recovery

I had a medical emergency at 2am on Friday and spent the whole day until about 11pm in the hospital; I'm better now but I spent all day yesterday on the couch and let's just say it was all a little much.

But today I'm feeling better enough and headed out to the local holiday fair. I'm looking forward to picking out a fun outfit with one of my awesome Christmas sweaters (I'm not calling them ugly sweaters anymore because they are AWESOME and I need to own that).

Otherwise the week was quiet/normal. The end of Covenant of Water in sight (less than 20 chapters to go) and I'm looking forward to some light reads once I'm done with this wonderful literary epic. Jewish Book Month Bingo has been fun; revisiting some older reviews, seeing what I've read that fits the various categories, etc., although I don't think I'll be able to complete a row. There are definitely some categories I can't complete! I included a couple of reviews for books that weren't five-star reads for me because I thought the books in question would be of interest to someone else and that's the way book recommendations go sometimes; just because it wasn't a winner for me doesn't mean it won't work for you.

For funsies I did my Spotify Wrapped and no surprise, my guy Joe Hisaishi was #1. This is impressive because I didn't start really obsessively listening to his music until partway through the year when I started working on "One Summer's Day" as part of my piano studies.

Joe Hisaishi at Radio City Music Hall, August 2022

I'll be working on that piece for a while yet; I'm not quite done on hands together for page 2 and my teacher and I have not even started page 3 yet. After seeing him perform live I realized I can no longer complain about my hands being too small to reach the octaves; he is a much smaller person than I am, and if he can do it, I have no excuse!

So for today it's a holiday fair, some piano practice and maybe some card writing. What are you up to?

I am glad you are feeling better, Marie. I hope you found something you liked at the local fair! We recently went to the Festival of Lights where several booths were set up by local small businesses. I could a couple of things I couldn't live without and my daughter did too.

My husband, daughter and I all gathered around our phones when Spotify Wrapped came out and shared our little videos with each other. I listened to a lot more music than I thought I had.

I hope you have a good week!
