Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature- Finalists Announced!

The Jewish Book Council has today announced its top five finalists for the Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature.

You can read more about the award here. It is a very prestigious prize and carries an award of $100,000.

The finalists are:

Elisa Albert for The Book of Dahlia (Free Press)
Sana Krasikov for One More Year (Spiegel & Grau)
Anne Landsman for The Rowing Lesson (Soho Press)
Dalia Sofer for The Septembers of Shiraz (Ecco)
Anya Ulinich for Petropolis (Viking Penguin)

I've included links to my reviews where applicable. Last year's winner was Tamar Yellin for The Genizah at the House of Shepher.

Good luck to all the finalists. Personally, I'm pulling for Ulinich, but I can't wait to see who wins!

Hi Marie,
I've been reading your blog for a while now. I started reading it because I hate the way Book sense change to the Indie list. I've never left a comment before, but something interesting happened yesterday that I wanted to tell you. I read the post about the Sami Rohr prize. I'd never heard of it before. My name is Ellen, I own a little used bookstore in Garrettsville, Ohio and one of my customers brought in some books to donate and one of them was The Genizah at the House of Shepher which won that prize a few years ago. I brought the book home to read.

Ellen, thank you for commenting! I'm so glad to hear from you, and it's wonderful to know you're a reader of my blog :-) I really hope you enjoy the book; I found it magical and lovely. What a coincidence! :-)

I was going to post about this but you beat me to it by a couple of hours. lol I enjoyed The Septembers of Shiraz and I have a copy of One More Year to look forward to. I was slated to recieve an arc of the Genizah at the House of Sepher from LT last year and it never arrived. I keep hearing such good things about it. I'm off to check out my library. I find it easier to convince them to purchase something if it's up for an award. I will just have to read all the nominees of course.
