Musing Mondays

Coming towards the end of April, we’re a third of the way through the way through the year. What’s the favourite book you’ve read so far in 2009? What about your least favourite? (question courtesy of MizB)

Without a doubt, my favorite book so far this year is Abraham Verghese's showstopping Cutting for Stone. Like a good plot? Check. Engrossing characters? Check. Heart-stopping action? Check. Richly detailed geographic settings? History? Love stories? Intelligence? Humor? Check. Check. Check. Check and check.

It's amazing and destined to be one of my all-time favorites. I can't say enough about this incredible book!

My least favorite? Well, you'll have to come back on Wednesday and read the review I'll be posting then. :-)

Musing Mondays is hosted by Rebecca at Just One More Page.

My favorite read this year would have to be the Twilight books. I know this probably makes me a philistine but I loved those books. Of course I have a lifelong love affair with vampires. My daughter and I are getting tattoos for Mother's Day and I am getting a vampire bat.

Reading everyone's favorites has got me rearranging my TBR stack.

Well I have to say my favorite book of 2009 is "Dragonheart", by Todd McCaffrey.

Now this might be a bit unfair on my part. I know the author, I know his mother Anne McCaffrey. And I have been reading books set in the Pern universe since oh 19xx.

I'm currently reading Sara M. Harvey's "The Convent of the Pure" which is also going to be an unfair choice because she is a close personal friend.

Yes I always put my friends books at the top of my favorites. Just think, some day I'll have the pleasure of doing the same for your other half.

I've yet to read Cutting for Stone, but it is on my TBR, along with several others. LOL.

I'm in the middle of reading Stone's Fall, right now, by Iain Pears.

I put Cutting for Stone on the TBR pile, but now it seems more urgent to pick it up. I've gone through the first three months of the year without a knock-em-dead book. The closest has been The Missing by Tim Gautreaux. Actually, now I'm reading The Discovery of France and it's fascinating, but I can't count it until I'm done.

I have been wanting to read this since it first came out. It sounds like the perfect book and I can't wait to get to it!
