Musing Mondays-Time Enough to Read

Musing Mondays (BIG)Today’s MUSING MONDAYS post is about reading time…

Do you have a set reading time (before bed, perhaps)? Do you read more at night or during the day? Is there a day of the week, perhaps, that you set aside to catch up on reading?

I tend to read a lot in the afternoons and in particular on Mondays; over time for some reason I've set aside Monday afternoons as prime reading time. I have a second job as a volunteer librarian in a local synagogue (different from my other, paying job); when the library's quiet I'm allowed to read. Not only do I make progress in my books but I've had some nice conversations with patrons there who've seen me with a book or two (or three or four). Sometimes my husband and I make time for coffee and reading on Saturdays. We'll grab our books and head out to Starbucks for a latte and some bookish relaxation. I can make a tall latte last about an hour and a half and usually bring two or three books. I also read a lot on the bus and since I don't drive, I take the bus a lot!

Finding the time to read is always a challenge no matter what- but it's always worth it. What's your favorite time of the day or week to read?

I can read sitting in the local park. And I read more during vacations!

I get most of my reading done in the evenings after dinner.

Hello there, nice to meet you!

I'm joining in for the first time this week.

Here's mine.

Happy reading,

It's difficult for me to read at Starbucks or B&N because of all the talking, but my husband loves to go and do that - he can tune it all out. So I concentrate on the frappuccinos, and he finds new books - it all works out!

My amin reading time is in the evenings.

How fun that you and your husband read together! I have to do most of my reading when I have the house to myself, which means I won't get as much reading done in the summer.

Morning is my most precious reading time. I usually read for two hours before going to work.

Saturday and Sunday are my catching-up days. :)

Alyce, yeah, we're both book nerds :-)

That sounds so nice spending time with your hubby like that over coffee and reading books. I pretty much always have a book at hand so I pick it up whenever I can. Mostly though I read in the evenings when I can sit down and relax with the dog finally settled down and curled up by my leg.

I will read anywhere at anytime!

I tend to be a bedtime reader, but if I don't have too much grading to do I can also fit it in earlier in the evening. I wake up before everyone in the house--even on the weekends--so I've been known to read for a few hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

I don't have a favorite day of the week for reading but now I feel like I should find one! I love reading in the morning while drinking a cup of coffee. Great post.

I definitely concur with your statement that finding time to read can be a challenge. I know it is for me. I do most of my reading on the weekends or at night before I fall asleep. I have a half hour for lunch during the week and I will often try and search out a quiet place to read at the office, but that doesn't always work out.

I read mostly in evenings and night, but like you I read a lot on the bus and subway. My ride to the university is about an hour long, so I try to make the best of that time!

The afternoons are actually my worst reading time for some reason. I have more trouble concentrating. It really varies from day to day, but lunch time and evenings tend to be good times for me.

I like to read during the late afternoon and early evening. I always hope to get a lot of reading done during the weekend, but that rarely happens, if ever. I seriously feel like sometimes I just need to cut out all the other activities and just totally immerse myself in books. Great topic!
