Sunday Salon

This Sunday is going to be very laid-back. My husband is off to his writing group this afternoon and I'm recovering from a semi-serious infection (I'm fine); I spent Friday in the ER getting antibiotics and a CAT scan (and reading- ERs are great for reading) and I've decided to lay low for the weekend. My big activity yesterday was sitting around in Harvard Square with a milkshake and a book; today will be much the same, minus the milkshake.

I've got some craft projects going on- I'm finishing up a woolfelt candle mat, and preparing to do another. We're going away to Nantucket in a few weeks and I always like to bring little hand projects to work on during downtime- and on Nantucket, it's all about the downtime! I can't wait to go.

My reading agenda? I've got one chapter to go to finish Shulamit Lapid's Valley of Strength and I'm 1/3 of the way through Chandler Burr's You or Someone Like You. I stopped by work this week and picked up some new galleys, including the new Margaret Atwood; digging into those will be fun. I hope to get out to the bookstore later and maybe get a cookie and a copy of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. What's on your agenda for today?

I wish I still had 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' to read, although I'm not sure its gruesomeness is quite what you need after feeling ill. Take care.

Personally I can't imagine too many things better than sitting around Harvard Square with a milkshake, except of course feeling better when you did it!

I'm glad you're recovering Marie. You take care of yourself. I'm so jealous you're going to Nantucket. I've been checking out pictures and it sure looks like a lovely place to visit.

A day in the ER sounds too stressful for reading to me. I'm glad you're fine.

Glad you're recovering, take it easy, and enjoy your day!

Yikes, I'm glad you're okay! I bet the decision to take it easy this weekend was a good one. Although to be honest, I'd love to sit around Harvard Square with a milkshake and a book any day. =)

Oh, I'm glad you're ok.

A cookie with Girl with the Dragon Tattoo sounds like such a good idea! I read all three of Larsson's books this winter (in French though) and I found them to be great page-turners. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did (my favorite being the second book, I think.)

I am glad you are doing better, Marie! It's good you are taking it easy this weekend.

A trip to Nantucket sounds so nice! I imagine you will get lots of reading time while away. :-)

My Sunday has been relatively laid back. I've gotten some of those chores done today that I couldn't do Friday because of my back. I hope to settle in with my book in a little while and read for a couple of hours.

Have a great week, Marie!

Like everyone else, I'm just glad to hear that you are all right.

You get to read the new Margaret Atwood before it comes out? You lucky dog. Of course, I just think anyone who gets to read a book pre-publication is a lucky dog. :)

Off-topic: I was reading over at Ali's blog (Worducopia) about your last 20 books read idea and I like that idea. It's always good to let people know from where you're getting your books, regardless if one participates in Blog with Integrity or not. I don't solicit or receive books from publishers, so I'm not really worried about it myself.

What a long day it must have been, despite having good books to keep you company. Waiting (in general) and waiting for medical results (in particular) can be so nerve-wracking!

Glad you're on the mend ... keep taking it easy with good books!

I hope your ear infection is healing well, and I am looking forward to reading your thoughts on the new Atwood book. I hope to read it soon.

I hope that you're feeling better Marie!! I'm way behind in my google reader and catching up so I just read this. Have a wonderful time in Nantucket. I can only imagine it will be beautiful and peaceful there. I have been to Martha's Vineyard several times and love it there.
