Well the summer's almost over- this is the last weekend before Labor Day- and it's been raining all weekend so far, though it looks a little better so far today. Yesterday my husband and I were glued to the TV watching the late Senator Kennedy's funeral mass, after which we took a big long nap.
Friday night we went to see "District 9," which is one of the best movies I've seen all year, either rented or in the theater. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it. It's a combination of science fiction action film and political allegory. I loved the setting (how many scifi movies are set in South Africa?), the actors and the quasi-documentary style. The action sequences were typical shoot-em-up but the plot carried a lot of real emotional weight as well. I'm toying with the idea of adding movie reviews to the blog now and then; what do you think?
I'm not quite sure what today holds. I'll go to the gym this afternoon, and maybe treat myself to a bookstore visit later today or tonight. Either way, I'm sure books and reading will play some part in my Sunday!
I have such a lot of blogging stuff to catch up on. Awards, BBAW, my giveaway winner. So I'm going to work on some of that stuff as well. What about you?

It has been raining here as well and it definitely feels like fall is on it's way to the midwest. We were glued to the TV as well and watched much of Senator Kennedy's funeral mass.
We're going to a BBQ but with this weather I'm assuming it will be indoors!
I have been splitting my time between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Here in Pasadena, I could see the fiery dragon about 10 miles up the mountain. A station fire has broken out so the air quality is very bad here. I guess I'll stay in most of the day with a book.
I think many readers like movie reviews as well as book reviews.
You've got rain and I've got 107F degree weather. Summer isn't letting go so easily in Southern California, I'm afraid.
I am glad to hear you enjoyed District 9. I did too. :-) I plan to feature the movie on Movie Monday tomorrow.
I hope you have a great week!
Glad to know District 9 was so good! My husband really wants to see it.
My son loved District 9, too, but I'm not sure it's my kind of movie.
I wish it was raining here!
I'm with Mattviews and the awful fire mess.
I've got a ton of BBAW reading to do!
We must have your sunshine but we have more than our fair share of humidity too so no enjoying the sun here. :-P
I really need to catch up on the insane number of reviews I have hanging around here this week. Here's hoping!
I hear such mixed things about District 9, but I do think I have to see it now
I am really excited to see District 9, and my husband is too. We may get a chance this weekend, so I'll let you know what I think of it.
