Friday Finds- A New Spin
Since I'm not getting any new books until Easter, I have no Friday Finds this week. Instead, I thought it would be fun to share the books I want to buy:
Anita Amirrezvani's The Blood of Flowers, historical fiction set in Iran about a woman trying to become independent. I hope that used copy I saw at the Harvard Book Store is still there! (Yeah, right!)
Marcel Möring's In a Dark Wood is going to be a must-read; it's about Europe dealing with post-Holocaust and post-World War II guilt and its consequences. I'm really looking forward to reading this.
Finally, Atiq Rahimi's The Patience Stone looks fantastic. Set in Afghanistan, it just won the Prix Goncourt, the prestigious French literary prize. I can't wait.
All three of these books tempted me to break my Lenten vows this week. Those and the new Ian McEwan will be on my shopping list when I hit the bookstore on Easter Sunday. What books have been tempting you lately?
You can find more Friday Finds at ShouldBeReading.wordpress.com.

I've had my eye on In a Dark Wood, too. It sounds fascinating. I also am really drawn to the cover. I've heard a lot about Blood for Flowers, too, so hopefully it *is* still there in the store for you!
I read Blood of Flowers, it was ok, I mean good, but after some werid sex scenes it went to just ok for me
So, basically this is your shopping list for after Easter? LOL They all look interesting to me.
You found some good ones to get after Easter. You're strong not to break your vows for Lent! I've been meaning to get to the bookstore and grab a copy of the new Joe Hill, Horns.

The cover of In a Dark Wood IS cool.
I can help... I've got The Blood of Flowers here, and need an excuse to get around to reading it already. Interested?
These all sound amazing Marie....thanks
All three like sound amazing books!
Here is my Friday Find: The Second Blush by Molly Peacock.
It sounds like you are going to need a rather large Easter basket! :--) The three look good to me, but I am not a fan of McEwan. I will look forward to hearing about the others, however!
The Blood of Flowers does look good.
I did buy In a Dark Wood, and will begin it in the next day or two.
The only new books I'm getting between now and Easter will be the occasional review book I accept, so I'll also be chronicling my wish list during Lent. It's going to get long!
I really liked Blood of Flowers when I read it. I hope it is still there for you.
I bought Blood of Flowers sometime last year after reading good things about it, but haven't gotten the chance to read it yet. I hope you get a chance to snag that copy and that you enjoy it!
