It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's Monday for like 13 more minutes.

I finished the San Francisco earthquake book, A Crack in the Edge of the World. I got what I wanted out of it but it's hard to say I'd recommend it, unless you were a geology major.

I also finished Never Mind, book one of Edward St. Aubyn's Patrick Melrose series. That book was dark. Good- I mean, the guy can write. He's an amazing stylist. St. Aubyn creates vivid characters economically, sets them against each other like spinning tops and we are left to observe the carnage. I can't wait to see how they develop over the course of the series. The second book starts years on- Patrick is five in book one and I think an adult in book two. But wow. I'm going to read the series, but I I'm going to alternate with light books.

With that in mind, I started Kevin Kwan's delightful Crazy Rich Asians, which was just made into a delightful movie. It is fluffy and fun, a kind of Jane Austen for the jet set.

Audio is the same- I'll Be Gone in the Dark- and nonfiction is the same, Gnarr! I hope to finish Gnarr! and A Whistling Woman this week. Then onwards.

What are you reading?
