It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

I am currently reading two books plus the same old audio I've been on forever.

I'm reading Ilan Stavans's interesting and accessible Jewish Literature: A Very Short Introduction, for a class I'm taking with him called Early Jewish Literature. The class starts next week and this is the first assignment. It's interesting! I'm learning things!

I'm also reading The Promise, by Damon Galgut, which won the Booker Prize in 2021. I've been a fan of his for years and got the book when it came out so I have a first edition Booker winner for my collection. It's about a South African family and the promise one of its members made concerning the family home. I like it a lot, I'm finding the writing to be very fluid and beautiful. It's I would say a character-driven, voice-driven book but a lot is happening nonetheless. I expect to finish in a week or so.
