It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

So I finished Normal People pretty quickly being laid up all week last week, and tried to start The Road to Dalton, an emo Europa Editions book coming out later this spring, but I misplaced my copy so I decided to pick up Vernon Subutex, which I started and put down for some reason towards the end of last year. I don't remember what exactly lead me to abandon it; I was enjoying it. Oh well.

It's the first in a three part series and I've collected the remaining volumes so I may get to them eventually. It's kind of an episodic loosely strung together novel about a man named Vernon who basically couch surfs his way around Paris after losing his job and apartment. We're treated to his lives and loves, friends and frenemies, a series of character sketches held together with a chewing-gum plot. I kind of love it. I've read Despentes before but this is blowing her other stuff out of the water. It's just very French, so be prepared for that.

Otherwise I'm on the same other books- halfway through Jersey Breaks and still occasionally listening to my audiobook, How Yiddish Changed America and How America Changed Yiddish.

What are you reading?

A book about a man couch surfing his way around Paris sounds like a good one for a winter's evening.
