So it's Sunday again and it's snowing- again. I swear I didn't see this in the forecast!
Oh well. The plan for today is pretty simple- go to the gym and come home to read. I had a feeling something was going on today but I can't remember it now. It is Oscar night, so I'll be posting a wrap up tomorrow on my movie blog. This week I reviewed Oscar-nominated True Grit and the classic French film Les Enfants du Paradis.
Reading? I'm participating in Persephone Reading Weekend by reading Reuben Sachs, a Victorian novel and satire by Amy Levy, a writer who committed suicide at 27. I'm enjoying it; it's very much a book of its time in terms of language and style (it was originally published in 1888) and the family dynamics she illustrates are fascinating. More later! I'm still working my way through The Hottest Dishes of the Tartar Cuisine, Alina Bronsky's latest novel from Europa Editions due out in May. I have to write interview questions for her and two other authors by tomorrow.
I guess that's it for now. Short and sweet! Have a great Sunday. More Sunday Salon here.

Glad you are enjoying your Persephone choice! The new Europa edition also sounds intriguing!
I can't believe you're having snow - we're supposed to reach a high of 78 today! I am so ready for spring!
Same here in the Midwest - more snow. Nothing much to do but swim and read, LOL.
Snow...ugh. It just never seems to end. I didn't realize we were getting this last round either. I'm all for curling up with a book, but I really want to get out at some point too. Major cabin fever.
It's kind of pretty, though...:) and better than rain. I have two Ps to finish (though I probably won't finish my second one, don't want to rush it) and they're both good books to stay at home with.
I'm envying you the cold! its hot and humid here.
I never thought I'd say I was happy to wake up to MORE SNOW, but it just looks so beautiful out there, and covers the dirty snow, making it pristine once again:)
Happy Sunday!
We were supposed to get more snow today, but it missed up and is currently pushing 60. I'm so over winter and looking forward to spring!
Happy Sunday!
We woke up to snow today too! Very odd for Tucson!
I have been on a real Xenofiction kick this weekend, Black Beauty, Watership Down,
Enjoy watching the Oscars. Hopefully spring will be here soon so we can all get some warmer weather.
I'm very interested in Rueben Sachs, so I'll be looking forward to hearing your thoughts :)
I have had a complete reading weekend, and my soul feels all warm and light! I just finished Jane Eyre, and I am so thankful that your readalong posts inspired me to read it! It was such a beautiful and amazing book. One that I will never forget. Stay warm over there and enjoy your books!
Snow showed up in Chicago too. Silly me, I thought it would stay rain. It's been years since I read Jane Eyre. That's one book I'd like to read again someday.
It's times like these that make me glad I don't live in the Northeast anymore. :-)
Not to rub it in, but the temps here yesterday were in the high 70s. We went for a bike ride and I noticed the cherry trees and daffodils are already in bloom! Of course, the situation will be reversed come July when we are sweltering in our 100 degrees and crazy humidity!
